Soil pH Balancer – Mr. Green Grass® is a professional pH adjustment product used to regulate soil pH and boost microbiological activity in the root zone. Additionally, it enhances nutrient absorption by plants. It is a granular calcium-magnesium fertilizer. pH balancers are safe to use and environmentally friendly.

Signs of Soil Acidity

The condition of the soil—and consequently, your lawn and other plants—is influenced by many factors. Proper sunlight, irrigation, air humidity, regular weeding, and fertilization are well-known factors. However, not everyone realizes that maintaining the correct pH level is key for healthy plant development.

Incorrectly identified or imbalanced acidity causes the grass to grow weak, pale, and patchy. As a result, it becomes more susceptible to weeds and diseases. Additionally, on overly acidic lawns, moss and other weeds—particularly field horsetail—thrive.

Soil pH should range from 5.5 to 7.5, with an ideal value of 6.5. To adjust acidity, special pH balancers are used. Application is recommended only when pH falls below 5.5.

How to Test Soil pH?

Before fertilizing, you should test if your lawn needs liming. There are several methods to do this. The simplest is a soil pH strip tester. The color of the strip, pre-moistened in a soil-water mix, is compared against the included scale to determine pH. However, there is a risk of misreading the color.

The same applies to testing with a Hellige solution tester. This device consists of a ceramic plate with a soil sample well and a printed color scale. Simply place soil in the well, add the solution, and wait for the color change.

You can also test pH with an electronic pH meter. This is the simplest method: insert the meter probe into the soil, and within seconds, the digital display shows the pH reading.

Application

Soil pH Balancer – Mr. Green Grass® can be applied from early spring through autumn at a rate of 5 kg per 100 m² of lawn (50 g/m²). Spread the product with a rotary fertilizer spreader according to the instructions. Apply 2–3 days after the last mowing on a debris-free lawn. After application, water the lawn thoroughly.

Before use, conduct a trial on a small lawn area. Take care to avoid applying the balancer to pavements, tiles, or paving stones. If the product spills outside the lawn, remove it immediately and rinse the surface with water.

Wondering how to conduct pH balancing? It depends on your lawn’s size. For small areas, you can use a hand spreader. For larger lawns, a wheeled rotary spreader is recommended.
