Self-Repairing Lawn Seed Mix – Patch Repair – Mr. Green Grass®
Self-Repairing lawn seed mix is the perfect choice for those looking to refresh and rejuvenate an existing turf, especially in thinned or damaged areas. Overseeding—strengthening, densifying, and regenerating by adding new seed—is particularly useful in such situations.
Therefore, if you plan to establish an entirely new lawn, you need a different blend designed specifically for that purpose: our All-Purpose Lawn Seed Mix or Sports Lawn Seed Mix – Pro Performance. Our self-repairing mix truly revolutionises lawn care. Its unique self-thickening ability makes turf more resilient to weather extremes such as drought and heavy rainfall. Moreover, its self-repairing properties ensure bare or damaged patches are quickly filled in, maintaining an attractive, healthy appearance year-round. Garden owners no longer need to worry about uneven spots. This seed blend performs excellently in home gardens and larger green spaces alike, delivering a dense, green carpet that catches the eye and makes any gardener proud.
Excellent Blend
Perennial ryegrass ‘Boxer’ (50%) is a cultivar noted for its dark green, glossy foliage with high aesthetic value. It features rapid growth and a dense turf-forming habit. With excellent resistance to mechanical damage, it is ideal for high-traffic areas such as home lawns, public spaces, and sports fields.
Perennial ryegrass ‘Berkut’ (40%) is a turf-type variety valued for its quick sward establishment. It boasts high wear tolerance and heavy-use resistance, keeping the turf dense and uniform even under significant stress.
Perennial ryegrass ‘Eurodiamond’ (10%) is recognised as one of Europe’s top sports turf varieties. It features exceptional durability, rapid establishment, and a robust root system. Its high regenerative capacity allows the turf to quickly regain a pristine appearance after intense usage.
These three ryegrass cultivars complement each other perfectly to create a blend that ensures optimal growth, colour, and durability for your lawn. Their combination delivers a dense green sward that will beautify your garden and perform for years without constant repair.
Application
The self-repairing lawn seed mix can be sown from March through the end of June and from early September to mid-October under stable weather conditions, avoiding periods of drought and frost. Recommended rate: 25–35 g of seed per 1 m².
Begin by verticutting the lawn (verticutter) or power raking it deeply to loosen the topsoil. Sow using a rotary or drop spreader, distributing the seed evenly, then water thoroughly. Maintain consistent soil moisture during germination by watering twice daily for 2–3 weeks. After that period, water regularly and evenly, preferably in the morning, adjusting frequency to weather conditions—typically twice weekly with 10–15 litres per m².
The first mowing should be carried out once the grass reaches 8–10 cm in height, cutting it back to 5 cm.
