Self-repairing lawn seed mix – patch repair – Mr. Green Grass® is the ideal choice for those wishing to refresh and renew an existing lawn, especially in areas where it is thinning or damaged. It is in such situations that overseeding a lawn, which involves strengthening, thickening, and regeneration by adding new seeds, is particularly useful. The Self-Repairing Lawn Seed Mix – Patch Repair – Mr. Green Grass® offered by us is a true revolution in the world of gardening. Its unique ability to density itself means the lawn becomes more resistant to various weather conditions, such as droughts or heavy rainfall. Furthermore, the self-repairing properties of the grass ensure that any thinned areas or damage are quickly repaired, allowing for the maintenance of an aesthetic and healthy lawn appearance throughout the year. As a result, garden owners no longer need to worry about patches in the lawn. The seed mix works brilliantly in both domestic gardens and larger green spaces, offering a thick, green carpet that catches the eye and is the pride of every gardener.
Excellent blend of 3 perennial ryegrass varieties
Resilience component stands out with very good tolerance to low mowing and high resistance to diseases. It gives the lawn a thick, carpet-like appearance and helps maintain its aesthetics. This variety is also characterised by good winter hardiness, which helps preserve the beautiful appearance of the turf all year round. Its increased share in the mix strengthens durability, disease resistance and improves the overall long-term aesthetics of the lawn.

Repair component is a high-density variety that provides quick and effective ground coverage. It is extremely resistant to intensive use, including treading. Its high regeneration capacity allows the turf to recover quickly after damage and helps maintain a healthy, compact lawn. Despite having the smallest share, it still plays an important role, providing the lawn with the ability to regenerate quickly.
The combination of fast-growing perennial ryegrass with other high-quality varieties creates perfect synergy. Together, they provide an immediate effect of a thick, green carpet and build a durable, compact, and wear-resistant lawn structure. As a result, the turf is not only beautiful but also exceptionally hardy for years to come.
Application
Self-Repairing Lawn Seed Mix – Patch Repair – Mr. Green Grass® is designed to thicken existing lawns and repair bare patches. Apply from March to late June, or from early September to mid-October, preferably in stable weather conditions, avoiding drought and frost.
Before sowing, prepare the soil thoroughly: scarify or rake vigorously to loosen the top layer of soil. Then sow the seed evenly using a rotary or drop spreader at a rate of 2.5–3.5 kg per 100 m² (25–35 g/m²).
After sowing, water the entire lawn thoroughly. During the crucial germination period (about 2–3 weeks), keep the soil consistently moist by watering twice daily. Afterwards, switch to regular watering suited to weather conditions (usually twice a week), supplying approximately 10–15 litres of water per 1 m². Mow for the first time when the grass reaches 8–10 cm, cutting it down to 5 cm.

Frequently asked questions
Self-Repairing Lawn Seed Mix – Patch Repair – Mr. Green Grass® is best sown from March to June or in September and October, as these periods provide ideal moisture for recovery. We avoid the July and August heat, as young overseeding in an existing lawn is exceptionally vulnerable to competition for water with older grass. Precise adherence to these weather windows guarantees that new plants will quickly fill gaps and integrate with moss or turf.
The mix contains perennial ryegrass varieties with high winter hardiness, however, newly germinated plants are delicate, so it is advisable to avoid sowing just before forecasted frost waves. If the temperature drops slightly below zero after sowing, the seeds will simply wait in the soil for warmer weather. It is crucial that stable weather occurs at the stage when the plant begins to sprout its first blades.
During periods of drought, the process of producing lateral rhizomes is slowed down as the plant focuses on survival. To fully exploit the potential of self-repairing, the lawn must be regularly watered, especially in the first weeks after sowing. Constant soil moisture is the “fuel” that allows perennial ryegrass to build a thick, green carpet.
No, this mix is dedicated exclusively for overseeding into existing turf and local patch repairs. Its composition has been selected so that the seeds quickly compete with already growing grass and aggressively fill empty spaces. For establishing a new lawn from scratch, choose our All-Purpose Lawn Seed Mix – Green Oasis – Mr. Green Grass® or Sports Lawn Seed Mix – Pro Performance – Mr. Green Grass®, which have different species proportions.
Before sowing, carry out intensive scarification or rake the area very thoroughly to expose the soil and remove dead thatch. The seeds must have direct contact with the ground so that they can germinate efficiently and “anchor” themselves into the existing lawn structure. Such site preparation drastically increases the effectiveness of the repair and accelerates the effect of a uniform turf.
